<br />
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/CatieCat/henslowe" target="_blank">Henslowe</a> is actually finished - cast on January 1st and cast off January 18th - and it's blocked but no photos of that yet<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/CatieCat/glove-love-4" target="_blank">Glove love</a> was on the needles again - 4th pair I've knit for Cory - he bought me some Cascade 220 for Christmas so I could knit him a pair - so thoughtful eh? again, no photos yet<br />
<br />

LOVE the pattern - and it was so much fun to decorate!<br />

<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/CatieCat/haruni" target="_blank">Haruni</a> is nearing completion - just 2 more rows, an epic bind off and blocking remain<br />
<br />
And I've got a pair of <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/CatieCat/vanilla-bean-striped-socks" target="_blank">stripey socks</a> on the go - with just a little bit of a pattern/recipe on them too<br />

<br />
And on the wheel as of last night - and the first thing on the wheel this year - a gift from Dana of the Just One More Row Podcast and <a href="http://unwindyarncompany.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">Unwind Yarn Co</a>. It's <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/people/CatieCat/stash/mulberry-silk-sliver" target="_blank">Mulberry silk silver from Tyrannosaurus </a>Knits. I got almost half done last night - I like it, it isn't even but for my first time spinning silk I think I'm doing well. I'll 2 ply it and see what yardage I get - I could go so super fine with this fiber (and sometimes unintentionally do) but I'd rather more bulk right now - maybe that's because of the cold weather? I'll certainly buy more of this (though not from this dyer - she no longer seems to be dying)<br />

<br />
This week’s directive is: “10 Things You Keep In Your Car”<br />
1. window scrapers (3 of them at the moment - one works better for wiping snow off, the other 2 work better on the ice)<br />
2. iPhone/iPod charger<br />
3. cord that links the iPhone/iPod to the car audio system<br />
4. BC license plates - from 2006 when we moved to Alberta<br />
5. lint roller brush - we have 2 cats - a black and white one and a grey one - their fur is EVERYWHERE and the battle never ends<br />
6. a loonie - for the carts at the grocery store<br />
7. jumper cables<br />
8. hamper full of travel safety things - like warm gloves, a blanket or two... it gets cold here and the roads can get bad<br />
9. worther's original candies - not really sure why they're there<br />
10. the iBent - well that's what we call it - Cory's iPod nano got caught in the door one time - it is bent but it technically still works - it is engraved and says Ninja Robot - I'll try to remember to take a photo tonight but don't hold your breath<br />
<br />
11. spare grocery bags<br />
12. kleenex<br />
13. grocery bag for garbage<br />
14. likely other random things in our trunk that I'm not thinking of right now - could be toilet paper, kitty litter...<br />
<br />
<br />Catiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02422312014288178089noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7584559141007862929.post-37218308644142333972013-01-01T17:01:00.000-07:002013-01-01T17:01:58.512-07:00Happy New Year Right, so that didn't last long... I hope to be better in 2013, I swear<br />
<br />
2012 has been great to me but I hope that 2013 will be even better. There are big things on the horizon - not the least of which is that I hope to start designing.<br />
<br />
Goals - I'm not sure if I made any for 2012 - certainly not on the blog.<br />
<br />
For 2013 here are some loose goals/guidelines/suggestions<br />
<br />
<ol>
<li>knit a sweater or two or more - starting with the <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/CatieCat/blackberry-cabled-cardigan" target="_blank">Blackberry Cardigan</a> by Alexandra Charlotte Dafoe</li>
<li>spin more fiber than comes in - or at least break even</li>
<li>the whole designing thing - at least 1 pattern </li>
<li>knit more from patterns already in my library - I should put a number on this but I don't know what is reasonable - 2013 could be a very busy year so I'm going to keep this vague</li>
<li>knit more with handspun - I'm going to say at least 6 projects with handspun MINIMUM </li>
</ol>
And in other news, I've got a butt-tonne of FOs from the end of November and December but I'm going to skip talking about all them and start fresh with January. I'll just direct you to my <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/CatieCat" target="_blank">project pages on Ravelry.</a><br />
<br />
I did finish a pair of self striping socks today - I just had half a heel to do but it is officially a 2013 FO<br />
<br />

It makes for some very pretty frost on the trees.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfwtzWyXA6Yh7S6w2tEjHGkjbQXxVMqVAsxF34VWxiwHurz_4vONnMSY6K54mxejiXLgusA9lkrDNzEkCpUApyoEl6QkKWz_u9w_330zCnTAt5tkvW226FGH97X55BPgD3tKeqbtcd9sY/s1600/IMG_1216.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfwtzWyXA6Yh7S6w2tEjHGkjbQXxVMqVAsxF34VWxiwHurz_4vONnMSY6K54mxejiXLgusA9lkrDNzEkCpUApyoEl6QkKWz_u9w_330zCnTAt5tkvW226FGH97X55BPgD3tKeqbtcd9sY/s320/IMG_1216.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
Been knitting a lot this past week - but no spinning.<br />
<br />
Finished up a pair of toe up after thought heel socks - ended up ripping out the cuff once they were finished and adding 6+ stripes per sock. Nice and tall now :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJzztF1kWQKGLZvClWmjOod1G7hd0mcMiOFMKfTrqE8-3pwcMgQGOo6R0xHXMS9oO16aVyTs_GWoHxvMpXy1YOLakXfwBG9bLP-uhiFbzthtBPH_4X_m9icsKJsseAFdwbEHyKCrTF1Fk/s1600/IMG_3033.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJzztF1kWQKGLZvClWmjOod1G7hd0mcMiOFMKfTrqE8-3pwcMgQGOo6R0xHXMS9oO16aVyTs_GWoHxvMpXy1YOLakXfwBG9bLP-uhiFbzthtBPH_4X_m9icsKJsseAFdwbEHyKCrTF1Fk/s320/IMG_3033.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
The colour is more accurate in the previous post - the pink is much more vibrant.<br />
<br />
I started another pair of toe up stripey socks - I bought this yarn in a destash from a friend. The information is on my Ravelry project page if you really must know more about the yarn. This yarn has only been in the stash for a few months - max<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijfkHBukVXSyT07x4dcfNQzNRdvg5fhMd-qBx_qaPOW_vD2drYyVVaVN1F-b2Iz920DkcKcr_ds29_1D-n9JSjoDXP4iUFaB249kaOr6Wg6JAGrWPjZzx71gcKqIadm9CbIb8WSigiDUk/s1600/IMG_1219.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijfkHBukVXSyT07x4dcfNQzNRdvg5fhMd-qBx_qaPOW_vD2drYyVVaVN1F-b2Iz920DkcKcr_ds29_1D-n9JSjoDXP4iUFaB249kaOr6Wg6JAGrWPjZzx71gcKqIadm9CbIb8WSigiDUk/s320/IMG_1219.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
They're going slowly - my mindless get ready for bed socks.<br />
<br />
I've also got a pair of Charade socks on the needles in Dancing Dog Dyeworks yarn on the Jive base - the main colour is Owlies and the contrast solid is Beach Glass - this yarn has been in the stash for less than a year. I can't believe how colourful these are turning out. The photo is from earlier today - I'm now almost done the gusset - flying off the needles, free pattern. Probably the funniest gauge I've ever seen written in a pattern (Gauge: Meh.) You can see Zoie in a shoe box in the background - the girls love that box so much I've repaired it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

And in other news - my students wrote their midterm on Monday. Ellie helped me mark - she's good like that yo. <br />

I visited my mom in Kelowna before she left for Italy for 2 months (to visit family) so that threw a monkey wrench in the posting - well that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Here's a few photos that I've taken in the last few weeks - I'll use them to catch up.<br />
<br />
I finished my Jedi Mind Trick socks - love them - have loved most of the patterns and all of the yarns this year in the CookieA club. I'm 90% certain I'll sign up for the club again - my only issue is that it takes so long to knit socks that if I wanted to knit all the socks in the club I'd knit little else through the year. And I'd like to knit a few sweaters - it makes sense given the climate I live in. I'm a little torn. I think I'll sign up again and delay my decision for a year. I've knit 3 out of the 5 sets of patterns - so 3 out of 10 patterns but still 3 from 5 shipments. I think that's pretty good - right? right!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7zWuNq7FVjCBwddCPNVbJlbNgDQITrfMjHNS2qlY1ex16ULUdaZ3hX_am9tNiBg6t573vKvQhADDM1xyjzO5dbcJqDbnS1vZxHQmwtc_I5pUTZ-FGVITl4X1M4NZp9ylJ4duwPqC4yBs/s1600/IMG_3027.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7zWuNq7FVjCBwddCPNVbJlbNgDQITrfMjHNS2qlY1ex16ULUdaZ3hX_am9tNiBg6t573vKvQhADDM1xyjzO5dbcJqDbnS1vZxHQmwtc_I5pUTZ-FGVITl4X1M4NZp9ylJ4duwPqC4yBs/s320/IMG_3027.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
In Kelowna I visited with mom and my canine brother - Zeke. He's a love but he smells a little like a dog and likes to steal my seat. He's a beautiful, chubby, pure bred beagle.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIO4BJDt89pngTfxk9Sv4OcJr5qmjX8IsS0QIxAXNoU8h4ty6Ku2BQRp5suYe4N83MfAR9QfpnxtEWg2xcVwwrJlaZ8ivawgofBTjmN7JcMnxwl2Y9AidMey8UcDChS5fTh5-vdFBEkew/s1600/IMG_1193.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIO4BJDt89pngTfxk9Sv4OcJr5qmjX8IsS0QIxAXNoU8h4ty6Ku2BQRp5suYe4N83MfAR9QfpnxtEWg2xcVwwrJlaZ8ivawgofBTjmN7JcMnxwl2Y9AidMey8UcDChS5fTh5-vdFBEkew/s320/IMG_1193.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
While in Kelowna I knit most of a pair of after thought stripey socks - love stripey sock yarn - these would be done but I had a lot left over so I ripped out the cuff and am knitting them taller. The cuff was annoyingly short. Socks would go so much faster, I'm sure, if I didn't rip out bind offs. The yarn is Canon Hand Dyed - Charles base (I think) in the colourway, In Mine Eye She is the Sweetest Lady. It is my entry for the AlphaKal that my LYS is holding. I've got until Oct 31st to complete them and I should make it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWYLB8cUZHIT6DfvdnBbMQJPmUTY5z5m2ykFVq9Ve87qHA03pv7sojKdjCQWh_q5yT33NpJRodVFsSqFZHslaliYjrV5r4ZsIYxuqeRuO0fgMgZh13RZDXK8n-ar4lbv8dn_dnI6r8LWw/s1600/IMG_1206.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWYLB8cUZHIT6DfvdnBbMQJPmUTY5z5m2ykFVq9Ve87qHA03pv7sojKdjCQWh_q5yT33NpJRodVFsSqFZHslaliYjrV5r4ZsIYxuqeRuO0fgMgZh13RZDXK8n-ar4lbv8dn_dnI6r8LWw/s320/IMG_1206.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
And finally, we've really hit winter weather here in Calgary. I've got to be honest - winter is my favourite season. I don't mind the cold, and I love how the world looks with snow all over. I like that I can add layers and be warm and snug - whereas in the summer there are only so many layers that you can take off in public. Plus we don't have air conditioning or windows we can open to create a through breeze. I also like watching hockey (though with the strike we're watching a lot more NFL and so I'm starting to understand football and therefore liking it more). I also like how winter makes my hobby really useful and there is a lot of time in which to use hand knits. It has been knit sock weather for quite awhile here - LOVE IT! What I don't like is driving in winter conditions - or taking transit when roads are bad. Transit has already been disrupted 2-3 times this season and that is a lot given how many weeks of winter we've had. It doesn't bode well for the rest of the winter. <br /><br />

I have 2 snuggly indoor kitties that keep me company while I do almost anything around the house - they help out when I'm brushing my teeth, making dinner, having breakfast, and of course knitting and spinning. They also inspect the stash.<br />
<br />
3/4 of my stash lives in this cedar chest - it was my Grandma Mary's hope chest. The girls don't look great in this photo but it is pretty accurate in terms of how they are helpful. Here I opened the chest and Ellie came and took up a guard position right away. I left the room for a moment and I think when I got back Zoie was trying to dig a spot for herself. Ellie is the grey kitty and Zoie is the black and white kitty. I don't have many non-blurry photos of Zoie because she is always coming to me for snuggles.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFy1bG6ZDNkaigyZ-jSLnUQlc9GdWoceJO9nvUNkF1W5lIJ1m3kGyngm7BuQ2igYoTnC9yJUb_o2oc2c8Zfc9R3zptNkak2k6zCQQzEo9Gphunnh7KT-wTMSA_dHi9CdlY6KVBdiNqjfY/s1600/IMG_3009.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFy1bG6ZDNkaigyZ-jSLnUQlc9GdWoceJO9nvUNkF1W5lIJ1m3kGyngm7BuQ2igYoTnC9yJUb_o2oc2c8Zfc9R3zptNkak2k6zCQQzEo9Gphunnh7KT-wTMSA_dHi9CdlY6KVBdiNqjfY/s400/IMG_3009.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
They are mixed breed cats - 100% of the snuggle variety. Ellie likes to guard me while I sleep - and starts giving me pointed looks if I go to bed too late. They don't like strangers - they prefer that our attention is focused solely on them. They really don't like strangers that come with suitcases...<br />
<br />
Ellie is about 2 weeks older than Zoie - but they came from the same breeder (no idea why they had 2 litters of cats that weren't purebred).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimw-G6wA7BxDvjTq0Q8N1llRbnkQkkeP57MDlxm6lujI9UyyK7MGT6xNHwvKkvCrRjdODO6TOm_e58s-qGl68YbS5sJEibKjJLRf91mN9p1aJh8f1qjDUGa21Oimua0bCbDL5p6INfar4/s1600/IMG_1185.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimw-G6wA7BxDvjTq0Q8N1llRbnkQkkeP57MDlxm6lujI9UyyK7MGT6xNHwvKkvCrRjdODO6TOm_e58s-qGl68YbS5sJEibKjJLRf91mN9p1aJh8f1qjDUGa21Oimua0bCbDL5p6INfar4/s320/IMG_1185.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
Ellie loves food and is content to just sit beside me a lot of the time. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9_T24WVrRElAS0fj41JtWseVfoluaxf634a0B0ttplr3ka46C8u2oIPcNsNqLFG52p2-4V3Sk4fnqHEceViEA-yPWLqiqvptbxApeLscQhB3Lf1wyfIjeiDSZUrXDe3d1AaRKl78yDYg/s1600/IMG_2836.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9_T24WVrRElAS0fj41JtWseVfoluaxf634a0B0ttplr3ka46C8u2oIPcNsNqLFG52p2-4V3Sk4fnqHEceViEA-yPWLqiqvptbxApeLscQhB3Lf1wyfIjeiDSZUrXDe3d1AaRKl78yDYg/s320/IMG_2836.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Zoie instead lives for snuggles and would rather snuggle than eat - and sometimes she likes to snuggle under the covers. She is also a very messy eater - she prefers her food outside of a dish, ideally on a rug... <br />

If I could do 1-2 posts per week in the near future I think that would be great. Today we'll take a look at recent spinning.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/people/CatieCat/stash/superwash-merino-fibre">Just off the wheel</a> - superwash merino in Wanderlust from <a href="http://shop.sweetgeorgiayarns.com/">Sweet Georgia</a> yarns - September 2012 fiber club shipment. I love this club - always ships near the start of the month and because she's based in Vancouver BC I get my yarn fast. If I had my act together I'd be the one posting the first spoiler photo! And she seems like good people.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQuGf-e3HyNOV_Md_cmj_bM5hGxQBT7z9uX1FxGbOnXzS8MLCumYJ7w0vAZGT5IVmJe8S2DEFE0zUdjwQ1foj4ebQQBCQrnPr7eGQcNlBXgifXpcBrWVCK0Vfm6nXUnragBrELwftoWbY/s1600/IMG_3022.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQuGf-e3HyNOV_Md_cmj_bM5hGxQBT7z9uX1FxGbOnXzS8MLCumYJ7w0vAZGT5IVmJe8S2DEFE0zUdjwQ1foj4ebQQBCQrnPr7eGQcNlBXgifXpcBrWVCK0Vfm6nXUnragBrELwftoWbY/s320/IMG_3022.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I had issues with breakage while skeining the yarn - I think I'm under spinning and/or under plying my yarn. I got about 450 yards from 4 oz of fiber. Oh and it is a 2 ply<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/people/CatieCat/stash/bamboo-merino-nylon-fiber">Previously on the wheel</a> - Merino, bamboo nylon blend from <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/gnomeacres">Gnome Acres</a> in Southwest Zombie. It goes through the 3 colours 3 times - it is an n-ply. Amanda's good people too.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_VvWnZmPG5xYaeqv1aXKVEt5myuwp-ZV6_tT4iw9aAlrmY__chIoZwgOwblbKSuvZXoTEDDhrFsCCHeIluKHQ2NZ19hSkjANbuVKLn2O5k25Pt9oOmwyazTHU6lF8_M2PBFHlk3OMKuU/s1600/IMG_3013.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_VvWnZmPG5xYaeqv1aXKVEt5myuwp-ZV6_tT4iw9aAlrmY__chIoZwgOwblbKSuvZXoTEDDhrFsCCHeIluKHQ2NZ19hSkjANbuVKLn2O5k25Pt9oOmwyazTHU6lF8_M2PBFHlk3OMKuU/s320/IMG_3013.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I got just under 230 yards from 4 oz.<br />
<br />
And <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/people/CatieCat/stash/swirl-bfl-roving-2">before that</a> was Swirl BFL in Beryl from the <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/unwindyarncompany">Unwind Yarn Company</a> - Dana's good people too - I'm saying that a lot this post but it's true - these dyers take their businesses seriously, are nice and have a great product. I'll be buying from all of them again. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I got about 400yds from 4.3 oz - no wonder it took so long to spin and ply... <br />
<br />
New to the stash and soon on the wheel (after what I've got on there is done - might be a bit because it is spinning very very fine - I've got the first of 2 plies done)...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPWRENfdewRoX5w81rP7NHabdv9JRDs-qmWluX4Kx4TRNplV77CwfSjTA_GuTm3HzT-Hm2bsFW4a8PfdXm9a-QXtMtN9IZTRfnW5N7RCW8p9Er_SkjwW_S0qUSOBWCkYJuBjSD2G_wbuw/s1600/IMG_3018.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPWRENfdewRoX5w81rP7NHabdv9JRDs-qmWluX4Kx4TRNplV77CwfSjTA_GuTm3HzT-Hm2bsFW4a8PfdXm9a-QXtMtN9IZTRfnW5N7RCW8p9Er_SkjwW_S0qUSOBWCkYJuBjSD2G_wbuw/s320/IMG_3018.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This is the October 2012 shipment of the Sweet Georgia Fiber club in Turning Leaf on BFL (not superwash). LOVE IT!<br />
<br />
And in other news, winter was here for a brief visit and has left the building temporarily. First transit disruption of the season - buses were having issues with the black ice this past Thursday:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVON6k3vtvAnRuxpE2yiViIj9QphCetgFeMeX-M5VIn06ZptWesnmoTbZmawgW3xEr3EYbyDKjdxpGhuetFFcmrIUvD_FcvGz6Kko6swRrIN6oNF0sR2cXKI-yAEg_Rygmf3D8Cj0Z3NI/s1600/IMG_1186.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVON6k3vtvAnRuxpE2yiViIj9QphCetgFeMeX-M5VIn06ZptWesnmoTbZmawgW3xEr3EYbyDKjdxpGhuetFFcmrIUvD_FcvGz6Kko6swRrIN6oNF0sR2cXKI-yAEg_Rygmf3D8Cj0Z3NI/s320/IMG_1186.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
It looks worse than it was, I think the temperature that morning was only -4C (25F) so it isn't that cold. It felt cold-ish but it is self preservation to say that it wasn't cold because it will get much much colder.<br />
<br />
On the needles:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/CatieCat/jedi-mind-tricks">Jedi Mind Trick socks</a> - Cookie A sock club <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/jedi-mind-tricks">August</a> shipment<br />

This is an old photo but it gives you an idea. I'm now well into the foot of the second sock - and am doing the foot plain so that they are more comfortable in shoes.<br />
<br />
I also need to knit 2+ more of <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/CatieCat/umbilical-cord-hat-3">these hats</a> for friends and coworkers - I've knit 3 so far - resounding success<br />
<br />

The pattern is the <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/umbilical-cord-hat">Umbilical Cord Hat</a> from Stitch 'n Bitch<br />

I went to add labels and thought I'd lost my post - but blogger now auto-saves. I was ready to say I hated blogger and then noticed the auto save thing on the new post - right now I'm feeling some Blogger love... Then I noticed that the photos I'd linked from Flickr weren't showing up - less pleased but still happier than if I'd had to re-write this post...Catiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02422312014288178089noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7584559141007862929.post-6926060597310329952012-09-25T10:20:00.002-06:002012-10-14T17:40:03.919-06:00Autumn has Arrived<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Posts on back to back days?! Yeah, don't get used to it - I'm just tired and procrastinating...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjk4KplRQeBmmoFmUOeU7R5t4DKWbtW16s1hpZGr-V2fyC3su0ZyxwDxSAs3pKYXqyBvhgkgdkRHQsCtMtVCRI1vthy0JZLex7CJ8O4sIOGELPDeeHTZtC0EKWulQETI-C4DJ-RRwWMdKM/s1600/IMG_1161.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjk4KplRQeBmmoFmUOeU7R5t4DKWbtW16s1hpZGr-V2fyC3su0ZyxwDxSAs3pKYXqyBvhgkgdkRHQsCtMtVCRI1vthy0JZLex7CJ8O4sIOGELPDeeHTZtC0EKWulQETI-C4DJ-RRwWMdKM/s320/IMG_1161.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Autumn has arrived in Calgary - the trees are changing quickly and the leaves are already falling. I love this time of year - the air is crisp and cool (handknit sock weather for the win) but it isn't so cold that you need to bundle up a lot.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiue4OdAQTMux5D05HZ8IyR-mbM79LYXQVk1QMb6_bkRKM-XJ5nO99Z3atnB2OylUc6arWu3SEC8u1mbeTormysXcLT3tY6nu9nIgFqlmMvTYD0obnF4wV-KOoJTsu3uPQTfQ7d0MlVRe0/s1600/IMG_1168.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiue4OdAQTMux5D05HZ8IyR-mbM79LYXQVk1QMb6_bkRKM-XJ5nO99Z3atnB2OylUc6arWu3SEC8u1mbeTormysXcLT3tY6nu9nIgFqlmMvTYD0obnF4wV-KOoJTsu3uPQTfQ7d0MlVRe0/s320/IMG_1168.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
A bit blurry but this photo was taken this morning as I walked in to school. As you can see the leaves are really dry and are already being ground into a fine powder. I think it looks really neat.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

And finally - this is from this weekend - along the route I run there are 1-2 houses with cat paw prints on the driveways. I always think of how cute it looks and how upset that kitty must have been when it happened. <br />

So we'll see if I can get what I desire by sharing on this space.<br />
<br />
Needless to say, life is busy. The summer flew by in a flurry of data collection and I don't know what else. Now I'm testing, doing data entry and teaching advanced research methods and design (statistics) once a week. 3 hour class, and about 75 minutes driving each direction. Lots of podcast listening.<br />
<br />
Fall is in full swing here - the leaves are changing and falling - crunching under my feet on my run yesterday.<br />

<br />
Blogger is completely different than the last time I posted - if you don't count that little teaser in July - which I don't. I've been knitting - and that's likely what a lot of you are interested in. Here's my most recent FO's<br />

And an <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/CatieCat/umbilical-cord-hat-3">apple hat</a> using the Umbilical Cord Hat from the Stitch 'n Bitch book - love this one - the leaf is <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/CatieCat/just-a-leaf-2">Just a Leaf</a> (a free pattern). This is the first of at least 5 that need to be knit for expectant coworkers.<br />

I hope to share more details on future posts for future knits - right now I have to make this quick because I teach in 17 minutes! <br />

It makes me want to blog again - sort of - not sure how this will go but perhaps I'm back. We'll see. No promises k?<br />
<br />
Oh and the pizza that inspired my return - the photos make my mouth water and have reminded me of how yummy it was:<br />

Ellie loves to sit near me while I knit (or do just about anything - she gets up to come with me when I leave the room at least 50% of the time). We got our second delivery from our <a href="http://www.oxyokefarms.com/">Oxyoke Farm</a> (half share) CSA yesterday- a massive amount of lettuce this week, swiss chard, and onions. Last week was rhubarb, Chinese cabbage, lettuce and onions. I need to remember to finish what we get each week...<br />

Also, there was an awesome little kid at the delivery truck - his shirt said "I'm 3 years old, what's your excuse?"Catiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02422312014288178089noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7584559141007862929.post-49640623728311797912011-07-21T22:08:00.002-06:002011-07-21T22:08:39.549-06:00July 21, 2011<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/9018472@N07/5959177449/" title="IMG_1808 by catie_phillips, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_1808" height="375" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6026/5959177449_8cbc1bd755.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />

A stuck hot water valve and a leaky faucet are the current reminders that there are things I can control and things I cannot control. And in order to have control I need to act - that is the way to a solution not stress and procrastination.<br />

First shipment of <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/DancingDogDyeworks#">Dancing Dog Dyeworks</a> Socktastic Summer of Socks finally arrived yesterday - Canada Post had been holding it hostage. This shipment is a self striping colourway called Tropical Twist on the Twist Sock base - looks tightly spun, like Louet Gems or Cherry Tree Hill. I can't wait to cast on :)<br />

Ellie always wants to know what I'm doing - she loves to keep me company. When I put my makeup on in the morning she watches me in the mirror. And her current favourite spot in bed is where my pillow should be - right in the corner. Sometimes she even meows at me to make space for her there.<br />

I feel loved :)Catiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02422312014288178089noreply@blogger.com0
